A HUMBLE JOURNEY
Lt Pokharmalji Agarwal hailed from a small village called Gawar near Hisar in Haryana. Coming from a farming background and with limited land and opportunities, he moved to Calcutta in 1940 to explore business opportunities. As destiny would have it he got into Jute trade and eventually settled in Barpeta Road, Assam after trying his hands in different trades like pepper/mirchi, paints, dry fruits, spices, soap, hair oils, edible oils etc. And then the next generation; Ramkumar, Nourangrai, Satyanaryan joined the business.
